Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026
Last updated: August 1, 2026

Advocacy 4 Justice (“A4J,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting privacy through a local-first approach. Our tools are designed so that information created, entered, organized, or saved by a user remains on that user’s own device whenever technically possible.

1. Our Local-First Commitment

A4J does not operate a cloud-based case-file database, create behavioral profiles, or intentionally collect and maintain the information users enter into our local tools.

Information entered into an A4J tool—including notes, timelines, records, research, files, and locally generated reports—is stored on the user’s own computer, browser, or device. A4J ordinarily cannot view, retrieve, recover, restore, or delete locally stored information.

Users are responsible for:

-Protecting access to their devices;

-Using passwords, encryption, and other appropriate safeguards;

-Maintaining secure backups;

-Controlling who can access or use their information; and

-Deleting locally stored information when it is no longer needed.

Clearing browser data, uninstalling an application, losing a device, experiencing device failure, or failing to maintain backups may permanently erase locally stored information. A4J cannot recover information it never received or maintained.

2. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Except for information voluntarily provided when contacting A4J, information processed during an authorized electronic transmission, and records legally required for donations or organizational compliance, A4J does not intentionally collect, store, or maintain users’ personal or case-related information.

A4J does not intentionally:

-Track users across unrelated websites;

-Sell or rent personal information;

-Maintain cloud copies of locally created case files;

-Use personal information for targeted advertising;

-Build advertising or behavioral profiles;

-Store passwords or complete payment-card numbers; or

-Use private case information to train publicly available artificial-intelligence models.

3. Contacting Advocacy 4 Justice

When a person voluntarily contacts A4J by email, contact form, telephone, or another communication method, A4J receives the information that person chooses to provide.

Contact information may be temporarily maintained for the limited purposes of:

-Responding to the communication;

-Providing requested information;

-Addressing safety or security concerns;

-Maintaining legally required organizational records; or

-Establishing, exercising, or defending legal rights.

Do not send passwords, Social Security numbers, complete financial-account numbers, protected residential addresses, confidential legal strategies, medical records, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary email or a general contact form.

Communications with A4J are not protected by attorney-client privilege and do not create an attorney-client relationship.

4. OPSEC Assessments and Electronic Transmission

When an operational-security assessment, open-source research result, public-information report, or related A4J service is completed, the resulting information may be transmitted electronically to the requesting user or another recipient authorized by that user.

Electronic transmission requires information to pass temporarily through devices, networks, internet providers, email systems, hosting services, or other third-party infrastructure. Those third parties may automatically create routing records, security logs, cached copies, backups, or other temporary technical records governed by their own policies.

A4J does not intentionally maintain a continuing archive of transmitted OPSEC materials after delivery or completion of the authorized service, except when:

-The user requests or authorizes continued retention;

-Temporary retention is reasonably necessary to complete the requested service;

-Retention is required by law, legal process, insurance, or organizational obligations; or

-The information is reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, threats, or security incidents.

A4J cannot guarantee that any electronic transmission will be uninterrupted, error-free, immune from interception, or free from third-party system logs. Users should not transmit highly sensitive information through an unsecured channel.

5. Publicly Available Information

OPSEC and open-source research may involve information available through public records, official websites, publicly accessible online content, news sources, or information supplied by the requesting user.

Public information may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, altered, misidentified, or presented without its original context. A4J does not guarantee that public information is authentic, complete, admissible, or suitable for a particular legal or personal purpose.

Users are responsible for:

-Independently verifying important information;

-Preserving the original source and context;

-Using delivered information lawfully and ethically;

-Protecting information after receiving it;

-Avoiding harassment, retaliation, stalking, or unlawful publication; and

-Consulting a licensed attorney concerning admissibility or legal use.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, A4J is not responsible for the loss, alteration, interception, redistribution, or misuse of lawfully obtained public information after it has been transmitted or delivered to an authorized recipient. Nothing in this policy limits responsibility or legal rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

6. Technical and Hosting Information

A4J does not intentionally use advertising trackers or behavioral-profiling technologies.

Basic technical information—such as an IP address, browser type, access time, security event, or requested webpage—may nevertheless be processed automatically by a user’s browser, internet provider, website host, security provider, or communication service as part of delivering and protecting the website.

A4J does not control independent third-party infrastructure or its required technical logs. Users should review the privacy practices of relevant service providers.

7. Donations

Donations may be processed through [payment processor]. Payment information submitted directly to that provider is governed by the provider’s privacy policy and security practices.

A4J does not intentionally receive or store complete payment-card numbers. A4J may receive and retain limited donation records—including a donor’s name, contact information, donation amount, date, and transaction confirmation—when necessary for receipts, accounting, tax compliance, fraud prevention, or other legal obligations.

8. Disclosure of Information

A4J does not sell or rent personal information. Information received by A4J may be disclosed only when reasonably necessary:

-To complete a request authorized by the user;

-To service providers supporting the requested transmission or communication;

-To comply with applicable law, a court order, or valid legal process;

-To protect a person from an immediate safety threat;

-To investigate fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, or security incidents;

-To protect A4J’s legal rights or property; or

-With the affected person’s authorization.

9. Retention and Deletion

Information stored locally is controlled by the user and remains on the user’s device until the user deletes it or the device or application removes it.

Contact communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond and satisfy applicable operational or legal requirements. OPSEC materials are not intentionally maintained after delivery and completion, subject to the limited exceptions stated above.

Donation and organizational records may be retained for the periods required by applicable accounting, tax, insurance, and charitable-organization laws.

To request access to or deletion of contact information that A4J may still maintain, email [privacy email address] with the subject line “Privacy Request.” Certain information may be retained when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights.

10. Security Limitations

A4J uses reasonable safeguards for information temporarily within its control. However, no device, website, email account, network, electronic transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Because locally stored information remains under the user’s control, the user is responsible for device security, access permissions, software updates, backups, and secure disposal.

11. Children’s Privacy

A4J’s general website and tools are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13 without legally required authorization.

If you believe a child submitted personal information without proper authorization, contact A4J so the matter can be reviewed.

12. External Links

The website may link to courts, agencies, public records, nonprofit organizations, or other third-party services. A4J does not control and is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or availability of third-party services.

13. Changes to This Policy

A4J may update this policy when its tools, services, vendors, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will be posted with an updated effective date. Additional notice will be provided when required by applicable law.
